Vineyard Theatre debut. Originally from Japan, Maira was trained with the School of American Ballet in New York City on full scholarship. During her second year at the school, she won the prestigious Mae L. Wein Awards for Outstanding Promise. After school, Maira started her career as a professional ballet dancer at the age of 18 when she joined the Miami City Ballet. Maira’s first performance ever in the United States was in Susan Stroman’s DOUBLE FEATURE with the New York City Ballet at Lincoln Center.
