Dear Friend,

In addition to the world premieres on our stage, we’re honored to have great artists in the building creating and developing new work all season long — including JOHN KANDER, Tony Award-winning author of CABARET and THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, and our 2011 Paula Vogel Playwriting Award winner BRANDEN JACOBS-JENKINS. We’re very proud that artists at all stages of their careers can call Vineyard Theatre their home.

For thirty years, it has been our goal to give adventurous artists a safe space to create exhilarating, original theatre. Your support helps us realize that goal. Please consider playing a part in our 2011-12 season by clicking here to make a secure donation at this time. Every dollar counts and WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season. Thank you and see you at the theatre!

FROM THE DESK OF JOHN KANDER

Dear Friend,

The holiday season is when we think about home. For me, that’s the Vineyard Theatre, which is, right now, my favorite theatre in the world.

"Vineyard Theatre is home to me... There would have been no SCOTTSBORO BOYS without The Vineyard. It simply would not have ever happened." -John Kander

They have been really good to me, starting way back in 1987 with FLORA, THE RED MENACE. And there would have been no SCOTTSBORO BOYS without them — it simply would not have ever happened. My entire life in commercial theatre, I longed for a home, just someplace where I could work. That’s what I have now at The Vineyard.

They have been a home for many artists — from Paula Vogel (HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE) to Hunter Bell and Susan Blackwell ([TITLE OF SHOW], the upcoming NOW.HERE.THIS.) and of course Nicky Silver, who just gave us his wonderful THE LYONS featuring my friend, the superb Linda Lavin. And I’ve been back this year collaborating with the talented Greg Pierce to develop a new chamber musical THE LANDING, which you can see on The Vineyard stage later this season — in a lab production featuring David Hyde Pierce.

I asked The Vineyard to be my home, and I’m fortunate that they said yes. Please consider supporting my home for the holidays. They couldn’t do it without you. Thank you so much for making it possible for this wonderful theatre to keep going.

Happy holidays, and I’ll see you at The Vineyard in 2012!
