SEAN BRADFORD (Ozie Powell/Ruby Bates) Sean is incredibly grateful to be a part of this production. He made his Broadway debut as a Simba cover in Disney’s THE LION KING after graduating from Northwestern University. Other credits include THE YELLOW WOOD directed by BD Wong, WAS directed by Tina Landau, and CBS’ “My Broadway Debut”.  Sean is the Executive Director of Broadway in South Africa, which uses the arts to empower children in the U.S. and abroad. CODY RYAN WISE (Eugene Williams) is a dancer, singer, model, actor who did his first commercial at six weeks old.  Favorite Credits: THE LION KING (Young Simba), THE NUTCRAKCER (Fritz), THE WIZARD OF OZ, DAMN YANKEES. He has also appeared on “Sesame Street”, “The Electric Company”, and the music video for “Heard ‘Em Say” with Kanye West.  He is an 8th grade honors student at the Philadelphia Performing Arts Charter School. JOHN KANDER AND FRED EBB (Music and lyrics) The John Kander and Fred Ebb collaboration of four decades has created what many would consider Broadway standards and contemporary classics: FLORA, THE RED MENACE, CABARET (Tony Award for Best Musical), THE HAPPY TIME, ZORBA, 70 GIRLS 70, CHICAGO, THE ACT, WOMAN OF THE YEAR (Tony Award for Best Score), THE RINK, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (Tony Award for Best Score) and STEEL PIER.  Their collaboration also transferred itself to movies and television as they wrote original material for the Academy Awards, “Liza with a Z” (Emmy Award for Music and Lyrics), Funny Lady (Oscar nominated for Best Song), Lucky Lady, New York, New York, Stepping Out and Chicago (Oscar nominated for Best Song). In the mid-1980’s the song “New York New York” became the official anthem of New York City. At the time of the unfortunate death of Mr. Ebb, Kander and Ebb had several projects in different stages of completion waiting in the wings including THE VISIT, ALL ABOUT US (a musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder play THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH) and CURTAINS.

 

 

DAVID THOMPSON (Book) Broadway: STEEL PIER (Tony nomination, Best Book), the new script adaptation for CHICAGO (Tony Award, Best Musical Revival), and THOU SHALT NOT. Off-Broadway: AND THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND (New York Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards), the new librettos for FLORA, THE RED MENACE and DEAR WORLD. Regional: McCarter Theater’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Television: “Sondheim: A Celebration At Carnegie Hall”, “Bernstein on Broadway”, “My Favorite Broadway”, the two-part PBS special “The Music of Richard Rodgers”, and the Great Performances documentary “Razzle Dazzle”. Education: Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism.

 

SUSAN STROMAN (Direction and choreography) returns to the Vineyard Theatre alongside John Kander and David Thompson after their 1987 revival of FLORA THE RED MENANCE. Including AND THE WORLD GOES ‘ROUND and STEEL PIER, this marks their fourth collaboration. A five-time Tony Award-winning director and choreographer, her work has been honored with Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics and Lucille Lortel Awards, along with a record 4 Astaire Awards. She directed and choreographed THE PRODUCERS (winner of a record-making 12 Tony Awards including Best Direction and Best Choreography). She co-created, directed and choreographed the Tony Award-winning musical CONTACT (Lincoln Center Theater), which was honored with a 2003 Emmy Award for “Live from Lincoln Center”. Other Broadway credits include CRAZY FOR YOU, SHOW BOAT, OKLAHOMA!, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, THE FROGS, THE MUSIC MAN, THOU SHALT NOT, BIG, PICNIC. For 10 years she choreographed Madison Square Garden’s annual spectacular event A CHRISTMAS CAROL, directed by Mike Ockrent. For New York City Opera: A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, 110 IN THE SHADE, and DON GIOVANNI. Ms. Stroman created DOUBLE FEATURE, a full-length ballet for New York City Ballet featuring the music of Irving Berlin and Walter Donaldson.  She also created the ballets BLOSSOM GOT KISSED for New York City Ballet’s 50th Anniversary season, BUT NOT FOR ME for the Martha Graham Company, and TAKE FIVE... MORE OR LESS, a new piece for Pacific Northwest Ballet. Her choreography received an Emmy nomination for the HBO presentation “Liza – Live at Radio City Music Hall”, starring Liza Minnelli. Other TV credits include co-conceiver/choreographer for PBS’s “Sondheim – a Celebration at Carnegie Hall”, “An Evening with the Boston Pops – a Tribute to Leonard Bernstein”, and the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors. She received the American Choreography Award for her work in Columbia Pictures feature film Center Stage. Ms. Stroman directed and choreographed The Producers, the movie musical, nominated for 4 Golden Globes. Most recently she directed and choreographed a new musical for Lincoln Center Theater entitled HAPPINESS. She is the recipient of the George Abbott Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theater.
